One of the most helpful things I’ve learned about dreams is that they can help you uncover any blocks or limiting beliefs you have but don’t know you have. These things are sometimes called Shadow.
Shadow is the aspects of yourself that you have learned others might not like. You want to be loved, so you push those aspects away, hiding them in your shadow.
For example, you might have learned that others may not like it if you’re flaky. So, anything you do that might be flaky, you push away and ignore.
You may even overcompensate by becoming super organized and dependable. There’s no way anybody can ever call you flaky.
Flaky is now in your shadow. And you have forgotten all about it and don’t even know it’s there because you can’t see it anymore.
Then one day, you want to do something fun or slightly risky, which could be flaky.
But for some reason you can’t act on this fun thing you want to do. And you can’t figure out what’s blocking you.
If you could accept that there’s a part of you that is flaky, and be okay with it, then you could move forward. But because it’s hiding and shadow, you don’t even know it’s there.
But your subconscious knows what’s blocking you. And can tell you through your dreams.
And it’s surprisingly easy to interpret what is shadow in your dreams. I’ll talk more about it in other posts.
