I spent 25 years of my life in the book publishing industry. I like to joke that I’m an equal opportunity reader: I like all kinds of books (though my favorite author is Maeve Binchy—anyone else here a fan?).
I’ve worked an array of jobs: I was a cashier at a grocery store (a childhood dream, in fact!), I taught English as a second language in Beijing, and I’ve taught first grade for four years.
I live in Orlando, like to take walks, and work from home.
Five is a significant number in my life. I have five siblings. I have lived in five different states in my life. I’ve owned five Hondas. (Though now I own a Hyundai!)
In 2019, I went from carrying around a thermos of coffee all day to going completely caffeine-free. Now my favorite Starbucks order is a vanilla steamer, made from dairy-free milk.
I love listening to movie soundtracks. Right now Moana is on repeat, but Inception—which is ALL about dreams!—is great, too.
I dream a lot about Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock (yes, the actor who voiced Maui in Moana). It’s not because he’s a hunk, or not only that. Turns out, whenever I dream of The Rock, he’s a stand-in for all the rocks, or the obstacles, I’m facing in my life. See? Symbolism!
